Introduction: The integration of AI into mental healthcare is accelerating. This symposium addresses the practical applications and ethical considerations of using data-driven models in therapy. Method: We will present three case studies: 1) An NLP model for analyzing sentiment in online support groups. 2) A VR tool for social anxiety, guided by a machine learning adaptive system. 3) The use of social media data to model and predict mental health trends. Results: Findings indicate that AI tools can significantly augment clinical decision-making. However, they also highlight substantial risks related to data privacy and algorithmic bias, which must be addressed. Discussion: We will host a panel to discuss the development of ethical best practices and regulatory frameworks. The goal is to ensure these powerful new technologies are deployed safely and effectively to augment, not replace, the human clinician.
